The Youth Center of Texas Sunflower Home Program is an 8-bedroom transitional living program for female survivors of child sex trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation, ages 18-22, and their babies. Our mission is to provide the holistic support needed to restore each survivor’s growth into a life that is peaceful, productive, and free from victimization.

The Youth Center of Texas provides the following services:

  • Transitional living that best meets the survivor’s needs.
  • Specialized Sunflower Home Service Plan based on the Transtheoretical Model of Change (Prochaska et al. 1992) and tailored in accordance with the survivor’s level of trauma and most recent victimization.
  • Case management services that support the survivor with achieving the goals set forth in the service plan, initial counseling assessment, weekly counseling sessions from licensed professional counselors certified in Trauma-Focus Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), group therapy, crisis intervention services, and remote services for the survivor after exiting the program.
  • CSE-IT (Commercial Sexual Exploitation Identification Tool) screening.
  • Nurturing Parenting Program® provided by a certified Case Manager for survivors who are pregnant and/or have children.
  • Transportation services to and from medical appointments, job interviews, work, educational classes, and other appointments that support the survivor’s service plan goals.
  • Assistance with identifying and securing long-term stable and appropriate housing, including registering with the City of San Antonio Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) Rapid Re-Housing program.
  • Assistance with identifying and securing medical care, psychiatric evaluations and treatment, substance use evaluations and treatment, job training, educational opportunities, employment, Crime Victims Compensation (CVC), and government-issued documents such as I.D. cards, social security cards, and birth certificates.
  • Trauma-informed and non-judgmental support from staff trained in Trust-Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI®).
